New York Times-bestselling author of young adult fiction
I love speaking to groups, whether it’s at a school, library, conference, festival, or other event. I’m always happy to talk about my books and my life as a writer, as well as writing LGBTQ characters, and I can also speak about topics my books touch on, including the history of the gay rights movement in the 1970s and the Lavender Scare in the 1950s. I enjoy speaking to groups of teens and adults alike. My presentations typically include a brief slide show, customized to the audience, as well as an open Q&A.
If you’re interested in requesting that I appear at an upcoming event, here are some helpful things to know.
For conferences, book festivals, panels, and other events that are typically coordinated through publishers rather than authors directly, please reach out to my publicist, Hannah Klein (Hannah.Klein at hbgusa.com) with all inquiries.
I live in Washington, D.C., but I can travel for events depending on the circumstances. I ask that the event organizers cover the costs of my travel and lodging . For events within the D.C. area, I also ask that travel costs be covered if the event isn’t Metro accessible, usually via a ride share service.
For school and library presentations, as well as keynote speeches, I typically charge a speaking fee in addition to any transportation and lodging costs. The fee depends on the nature of the event, the location, and the time commitment required. Please contact me at robintalley678 at gmail.com for my rates.
The more advance notice I have for any event, the more likely it is that I’ll be able to attend.
I’m also happy to speak to groups virtually. Please contact me at robintalley678 at gmail.com with requests for virtual appearances.
